FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT COACHING
FAQs About Coaching
What do I get out of coaching with you?
You achieve results and learn how to achieve results while focusing on being and doing. You learn how to use your time, energy, and money on what is most important to you, consistently and in all areas. With me as your trained and professional coach, you get the time, space, and support to shift perspective and accomplish what you want. Read what Executives are saying about the benefits of Executive Coaching in this research published by Christine Turner in the Ivey Business Journal, May/June 2006.

What do we do during our coaching meetings?
You learn how to be the person and leader you want to be, with a sense of well-being, consistently and in all areas.
Why do you coach on all life areas?
I coach on all life areas because I find over and over again that all areas are connected and coaching is most effective when interconnections are acknowledged and addressed explicitly. Have you ever had a problem at home? How did it affect your work? Your health? Those around you? Have you ever had a problem at work? How did it affect your family? Your health? I coach, implicitly or explicitly, as you prefer, mindful of connections and of the whole because I see, feel, and hear life in this way.
How do I accomplish what I want on a day to day basis?
With my coaching, you learn 3 techniques that move you from vision to action and accomplishing what you want. In the Results Game, you identify the most important key results for you to achieve every 2 to 3 weeks and acknowledge what you accomplish. In the Guidelines Game, you identify what makes you successful. In the Well-Being Game, you monitor your well-being. At each of our meetings, you play the games and get coaching on specific areas you choose.
What sets you apart as a coach?
The Top 3 attributes that benefit you and set me apart as a coach are:
- my coaching is connection and spirit-based,
- you graduate from my coaching because you learn how to accomplish what you want, and
- I focus energy on listening for your success.**
I focus energy on listening, connections, and spirit to guide you through coaching, using an inquiry process that focuses on choice to achieve healthy success as you define it. You learn how to consistently obtain desired results in all life areas with a sense of well-being, fulfillment, and satisfaction, by making purposeful choices. My governing coaching values are integrity, service, fun, spirituality, and healthy success.
What does it mean to be a SUN coach?
As a SUN coach, I am a graduate of the Success Unlimited Network®, an International Coach Federation Accredited Coach Training Program. This means I have more than 125 hours of coach specific training. Most of my training was completed one:one with Master Certified Coach Teri-E Belf, the founder of SUN in the United States. I am a life-long learner and continue my learning through formal programs and self-study. SUN coaching, which began in England in 1981 under the company name of Results Unlimited, is based on a model of coaching congruent with the W. Timothy Gallwey Inner Game sports coaching material. Mr. Gallwey noticed that most tennis coaches focus on the act of hitting the ball - doing. He realized that the most successful players focus on what happens between hits - being. It is this focus on between the action being that makes SUN one of the most unique and effective coaching programs in the world.*
Can I pick specific areas of focus for my coaching?
Absolutely! You provide the content; I provide the framework. Some areas my clients have chosen to focus on include:
- leadership
- direction in life
- clear short term choices
- clear job description
- implementation of choices
- spirituality
- prioritizing
- self management
- balance
- fun
You identify the areas you want to focus on.
How long do we meet?
You choose the coaching that is right for you. In Executive Coaching, we meet 10 times over 4 months to a year. In Coaching for Re-Careering, we meet for 2 half-days. In Coaching for Purposeful Choices, we meet once. At each level, you create a succinct statement of what brings you satisfaction and fulfillment and learn 2 techniques to use immediately when making choices. Throughout Executive Coaching and Coaching for Re-Careering, you use your statement to identify what your vision is for specific areas of your life and what steps you commit to take to make your vision real.
What happens after our meetings?
After our meetings, you have a written record to support you in identifying your next action steps. When you graduate from Executive Coaching, your record is in the form of your Results Games and Guidelines. You also have a written plan to continue your success, in the form of your Statement, Visions, Lifetime Committed Choices, and Annual Committed Choices. You graduate from coaching. Some clients choose to continue to implement their choices on their own. Some choose coaching on an occasional basis. Some choose to set up regular post-graduate meetings. You choose what is perfect for you.
